Today, the 5th graders read a variety of articles to find a big idea to learn about and take action on. Each student read through several sources and chose an article to pitch to her/his exhibition group. The groups discussed each article and the big ideas behind them. After selecting an article, it was time to write a persuasive essay to present to the class, and possibly to the entire 5th grade.
These projects you guys do are really cool and I think the blogs will be a great way to document the process for the kids.
